Good morning and a very warm welcome to you
BLOG
The aftermath of Cheltenham was exposed yesterday – as three jockeys picked up whip bans. Rachael Blackmore picked up a ban, and even though she had ridden in over 75 races since her last ban, her penalty was doubled as it was committed in a Group One race.
However, Rachael just scraped back in – by one day – to be back for the Grand National meeting.
The sad news from the report shows that the attendance was down on last year by over 60K and that it was due to cost – mainly for accommodation. However, course cost WILL stay unchanged for next year, which is good. Is it about time that Cheltenham organisers got farmers to convert barns, get caravans in, contact local people willing to join a Cheltenham B&B Club and run at a standard cost??
Kind regards
